22/07/2025Indian Ambassador Visits Ankara City Council: New Avenues for Cultural Cooperation Discussed
Mukhtesh Pardeshi, the Ambassador of India to Turkey, was hosted at the Ankara City Council (AKK) building by the AKK Diplomacy Assembly. Ambassador Pardeshi was accompanied by AKK President Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, Chair of the Diplomacy Assembly Ambassador Metin Kılıç, and Executive Board Member Ömer Sarıoğlu.
Held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, the meeting highlighted the cultural similarities between Turkey and India and explored potential collaborations aimed at enhancing Ankara’s brand value.
During the meeting, AKK President Yılmaz introduced Ambassador Pardeshi to the upcoming book Seyir Defteri, which immortalizes the five-year journey and stories of the Ankara City Council. Yılmaz emphasized that the Council brings together over 150,000 active citizens, 3,200 civil society organizations, 52 working groups, 48 sub-groups, and 12 assemblies, all working voluntarily without any budget to discuss the city’s future.
Diplomacy Assembly Chair Metin Kılıç noted that the Assembly is committed to initiatives that inspire and promote Ankara’s cultural and spiritual identity, striving to position the Turkish capital among the world’s leading capitals through continuous diplomatic engagement.
Ambassador Pardeshi expressed his pleasure in living in Ankara and emphasized his willingness to contribute to the city. He proposed cultural collaborations such as establishing a yoga class under the Ankara City Council and organizing open-air yoga sessions in Gençlik Park, where participants could explore the philosophy of yoga.
The meeting began with a nod to India’s renowned tea culture and concluded with a gift of Turkish ÇAYKUR tea presented to the Ambassador by AKK President Yılmaz, symbolizing the fusion of two traditions. The tea dialogue served as a warm reminder of the deep cultural ties between the two nations.
The visit opened the door to new initiatives aimed at strengthening the cultural dimension of Turkey–India relations, with a shared focus on contributing to Ankara’s global identity.
