31/10/2025The Lights of India’s Diwali Shone in Ankara!
The Ankara City Council hosted the Diwali Festival, organized by the Embassy of India. Diwali, celebrated every year in India, symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
The event began at the Ankara City Council building with opening speeches by the Ambassador of India, H.E. Muktesh Pardeshi, and the President of the Ankara City Council, Mr. Halil İbrahim Yılmaz. Following the opening, a Yoga session inspired by Indian culture was held.
Later, the guests moved to Gençlik Park, where they lit candles as part of the Diwali celebrations and shared the joy of the festival illuminated by colorful lights. Throughout the event, the richness of Indian culture was showcased through Indian cuisine, dance performances, and music.
The event was attended by H.E. Muktesh Pardeshi, Ambassador of India; H.E. Amanul Haq, Ambassador of Bangladesh; H.E. Niluka Kadurugamuwa, Ambassador of Sri Lanka; Mr. Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, President of the Ankara City Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Yorgancılar, Head of the Youth and Sports Services Department of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality; Ambassador Metin Kılıç, Chair of the AKK Diplomacy Council; Mr. Şevket Bülend Yahnici, Chair of the AKK High Advisory Board; Mr. Ömer Şan, General Coordinator of AKK; former MP and AKK High Advisory Board Member Mr. Durmuş Yılmaz; members of the Diplomacy Council, AKK representatives, and Indian citizens living in Türkiye.
